Qardan for Education – FAQ

Q1. Why Should I Not Take a Loan from the Student Loan Company?

Loans from the Student Loan Company accrue interest immediately upon receipt of funds and are haraam.

Q2. Who Is Eligible to Apply?

Only UK Residents either British Nationals or those with indefinite leave to enter or remain (settled status) are eligible to apply for Student Qardan Hasana under this scheme. International students on temporary visas without settled or pre settled status should contact us at info@bqhs.org.uk for further information.

Q3. How Can I Apply?

All applications can be made through the following website:

On the website, select the “Qardan for Education” option to begin your application. You are requested to select your local Anjuman on the website and submit your application through them. If your Anjuman is not listed, you may apply directly through the Burhani Qardan Hasana Scheme UK.

Q4. When Should I Apply?

Applications for Qardan Hasana for students starting in September are open from the preceding March. So, applications for September 2026 entry can be submitted from March 2026 onwards.

Q5. What If I Don’t Have All the Relevant Information?

Applications can be submitted based on assumptions with final details provided prior to university entry and collection of funds.

Q6. Who Should Apply?

Application must be submitted by parents / guardians in their own name, on behalf of the student.

Q7. What does the Student Qardan Hasana Scheme Cover?

The scheme covers tuition fees and maintenance costs for all eligible students. Your Qardan Hasana approval will cover the entire course, but funds will be disbursed annually.

Q8. How Long Is the Repayment Period?

Each case will be considered based on its individual circumstances and the results of affordability checks. However, we encourage mumineen to repay as soon as possible so that all mumineen who need Qardan Hasana can benefit from it and receive the barakat associated with Qardan Hasana. We will also make every effort to accommodate mumineen who require an extended repayment period, in accordance with the regulations.

Q9. What Documents Do I Need to Submit Along With My Application?

  • Details of the course you are applying for, including the application course fees.
  • A Raza Mubarak letter which can be obtained through https://www.mhbtalabulilm.com/
  • Visit the website, click on “Education Raza,” and submit your application. If your Raza is approved, you will receive a downloadable PDF of the Raza Mubarak letter. This letter must be included with your loan application.
  • Safai Chitti
  • Household income and supporting evidence:
    • P60/Payslips for 6 months if employed, for both parents.
    • Bank statements for both parents for 6 months.
    • Accounts if self-employed for past 2 years along with tax returns.
    • Details of additional parent may be requested subject to financial status.
  • Budget, including but not limited to:
    • Course fees
    • Accommodation costs, if applicable
    • Travel costs
    • Food
    • Costs for study material and any examination fees

Where possible these costs should be backed by evidence.
You must apply for the full course duration, while the total amount will be approved, disbursements will be made annually. To secure your annual Qardan Hasana disbursement for the subsequent year, please share that year’s budget along with a summary of the previous year’s progress. Your financial affordability will be assessed each year before disbursing the subsequent year’s annual Qardan Hasana disbursement.

Note:
The Saifee Foundation of Europe has been authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 972455) to grant Qardan Hasana for educational purposes. Burhani Qardan Hasana Scheme UK (BQHS) facilitates the granting of Student Qardan Hasana under the auspices of The Saifee Foundation of Europe. Additionally, five Anjumans are appointed as Appointed Representatives of The Saifee Foundation of Europe and can grant student Qardan Hasana through each of their respective Qardan Hasana schemes.
